York Region Arts Council Awarded Prestigious Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant
The York Region Arts Council (YRAC) has been awarded its largest funding ever for a single project courtesy of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Grow grant program. The grant will support the Artrepreneur program, a business accelerator program for artists, arts administrators and creative entrepreneurs. The OTF Grow grant was awarded for the purpose of delivering a project that builds on the success of a proven model or program with a $419,700 grant over 36 months. Learn More

Along with our efforts, the Election Advocacy Toolkit will provide you with the necessary information, guidance, and strategies to effectively advocate for issues that are important to you, and help bring about the changes that you would like to see in your community.

A new property tax class for "Creative Facilities" is on its way
On December 6, 2017 Toronto City Council voted to establish a new property tax class for "Creative Co-Location Facilities", which will make some arts and culture facilities, including numerous Artscape projects, eligible to receive significant relief from property tax bills pegged to market values. The best news is that this announcement, reported by Councillor Cressy, comes just in time for inclusion in the 2018 taxation year.

On Monday November 27, 2017, OOAG hosted their Annual General Meeting at the Power Plant Gallery.

OAC Celebrates Government’s Increased Investment in Ontario’s Professional Artists and Arts Organizations
Enthusiastic applause broke out at last week’s surprise announcement by Premier Kathleen Wynne and Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport that the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) will receive a funding increase to its current base of $60 million bringing it to $80 million over four years by 2020-21. The $50 million increase will roll out accordingly: $5 million in 2017-18, $10 million in 2018-19, $15 million in 2019-20 and $20 million in 2020-21.
Over the next four years, this added investment to OAC programs will ensure that Ontarians have increased access to arts activity throughout the province and ensure that they see themselves represented in the arts.
