The purpose of the session is to engage with local businesses and attractions in the tourism and hospitality industries to have a hands-on learning session around the hyper-local, local, regional and provincial marketing and promotional services that are available to help drive more customers to their business. If you ever host events for the general public, or would like to see more traffic by residents/visitors to your business – this session could be valuable for you.
During the 3 hour session attendees will hear from Experience York Region about existing as well as exciting new opportunities, city of Vaughan, Central Counties Tourism, and SpaceFinder York Region. There will opportunity to ask questions and network.
Some examples of the types of businesses who could benefit are:
Main street businesses
Restaurants, Bakeries, Dessert Shops
Bars, Brewerie, Wineries
Municipality (Parks & Recreation, Culture, Economic Development)
Heritage Properties open to the general public
Or a unique business that would attract tourists and is not listed above
The York Region Arts Council (YRAC) is excited to announce its applications for the inaugural YRAC Youth Committee. The Youth Committee is a one-year volunteer commitment for young aspiring artists who want to discuss current issues in the art and address the needs of artists in York Region. YRAC will accept 5-10 youth who live in York Region to be part of this committee. The role of the Youth Committee will be to act as youth advocates for the arts. Committee members will be invested in developing communication skills, leadership skills, as well as developing themselves professionally.

Develop hands-on skills in leadership, event planning and teamwork
Create a platform for the youth voice to be heard in the York Region arts community
Make connections and be a part of a region wide network of youth leaders
Learn about pathways for you to discover a career in the arts and/or become creative entrepreneurs within York Region and beyond
Help create a dynamic York Region arts and culture scene by increasing knowledge, communication and awareness
Earn volunteer hours and reference letters for post-secondary applications and outside employment opportunities
Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
Must be between the ages of 16-25; if under the age of 18, parental/guardian consent must be given
Applicants must reside in York Region
Applicants must have an interest in the arts and culture industry, or be working towards a career in the arts
Incomplete application forms will not be accepted
Applicants will go through an interview process in November 2018

Building digital arts services for collective impact
As technology progressively transforms every facet of society, there is a pressing need for the arts and culture sector to jointly take ownership of its own digital futures.
From March 15-20, 2019, the 2019 Digital Arts Services Symposium / Symposium des services d’arts numériques (DASSAN19) offers constructive, cross-sectoral dialogues and alliance-building opportunities inspired by pioneering keynote speakers, community salon sessions, professional industry exchanges, hackathon competition with a $5,000 grand prize, and a bootcamp for fledgling devotees to the digital world.
