YRAC is the designated marketing organization for local tourism and citizen engagement in York Region and as such works in close partnership with Central Counties Tourism, the Region of York and Metroland Media. We help market York Region’s cultural and tourism assets through www.yorkscene.com, monthly YorkScene eblasts direct to consumers and ongoing sweepstakes and promotions. In 2013, yorkscene.com attracted over 53,000 unique visitors and its audience continues to grow at a rapid rate.
Did you know that when you upload your event onto yorkscene.com, your event also appears on the event calendar of centralcounties.ca? Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to promote your events! Also, let us know if you wish to participate in our ongoing consumer promotions. Our last two sweepstakes promotions which highlight local offers, attracted over 16,000 entries and are promoted weekly through eblasts as well as ads in Metroland papers.
We are pleased that we are rolling the Art Mentorship Project into 2014 in partnership with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. The exhibition of work by the first mentor and apprentice pairing is on now. See below for more information about the current exhibition and submission process for 2014. Here is a sneak preview of a new YRAC 2014 initiative! We will be launching an Awards Program for artists in York Region with bursaries to be given to the award recipients. Watch for details to come soon!
More news! YRAC in partnership with the Markham Arts Council, received a $35,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to retain a professional consultant, Robert Kerr, CEO of Soundpool Productions to develop a business plan for a new York Region Multicultural Festival. This festival will celebrate the Pan Am games and Markham’s rich diversity in its inaugural year.
From all of us at YRAC, we wish you a prosperous and culturally vibrant 2014!
