Dance Together Season 2024 @ Assembly Park

Following the success of our 2023 Dance Together Festival York Region, which won the nomination of Best In-Person Programming with Ontario Culture Days, we are partnering with Assembly Park and York Region Arts Council to offer ongoing indoor programming during Winter and Spring 2024 at the spacious and wheelchair accessible Assembly Park Studios in Vaughan! We are thrilled about this new chapter, which allows us to continue building community through dance in York Region.

The programming includes artistic process residencies with local dance artists, community dance workshops in diverse styles, as well as works-in-progress showings and events that are open to the community. All classes are beginner-friendly, and no prior dance experience is required.

To celebrate this new chapter, we welcome you at the Dance Together @ Assembly Park Open Studio weekend on January 26th and 27th for Pay-What-You-Can community workshops in Waltz, Line Dance, Bollywood, Latin Dance, and more!

Dance Together Festival 2023

The 2023 Dance Together Festival offered a total of four days of free dance programming during Ontario Culture Days.

September 29 – October 1, 2023, saw a variety of events at Assembly Park Studios. Community members were invited to take a free dance workshop and watch open rehearsals with local professional dance artists. There were eight open studio sessions (Contemporary Dance, Popping, Krump and Stilt Dancing) and five community dance workshops (Afro-Caribbean, Hip-Hop, Partner Dance, Swing and Cuban Fusion).

The Dance Together Festival in York Region closing event took place on the last day of Culture Days at the Richmond Hill Public Library (Central Branch) on October 15th, featuring four more community dance workshops (Family Dance Party, Bollywood, Merengue and French Folk Dance).

The York Region Arts Council was thrilled to help support this event through our Artist Circle Event Series with the primary goal of amplifying York Region Art/Artists through public performances, exhibitions, outreach and networking events, highlighting the diversity of regional professional artists and arts organizations in our Region.

The Artist Circle series of events are made possible with support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
