As YRAC continues to evolve, we are seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on, and mission-aligned individual to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer — a critical role as we work toward long-term sustainability and revitalization.
Role Summary
The Treasurer serves as the financial steward of the board, helping ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and alignment with YRAC’s mission. Working closely with the Chair, Executive Committee, and staff (as applicable), the Treasurer leads financial oversight, supports budget planning, and provides accessible reporting to board members.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and monitor the financial health of YRAC, including cash flow and sustainability
- Review monthly financial statements and prepare summary reports for board meetings
- Lead budget planning in collaboration with the board and staff
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, reporting requirements, and charitable regulations (e.g. CRA)
- Liaise with external bookkeepers, accountants, or auditors as needed
- Assist with funding strategies, grant budgets, and financial projections
- Help guide financial decision-making and risk management
- Support fundraising strategy and accountability for resource development
- Participate actively in board meetings and contribute to strategic planning
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is:
- Committed to supporting the arts and community building in York Region
- Financially literate, with experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial planning
- Comfortable reviewing spreadsheets and explaining financial concepts to others
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
- Familiar with non-profit finance or open to learning (especially CRA and charity compliance)
- Collaborative, solutions-focused, and excited to help guide a small organization into its next phase
CPA designation or nonprofit finance experience is a strong asset, but not required. We welcome both seasoned professionals and emerging leaders with relevant experience.
